This exquisite vintage knit cardigan looks and feels like a cashmere angora blend — very lightweight and soft with the signature angora “halo”. I think this is from the 1950s or 1960s from the style and quality, but it could be - little older or newer.
Such a unique color! The gold bead and sequin floral embellishments at each side of the cardigan and back of the neck are SO beautiful and in lovely condition. Scalloped hem and scallops at cuffs, all trimmed heavily with tiny bronze beads. Triplet clusters of beads dot the entire sweater like stars... This is one of the best vintage cardigans I’ve ever seen! My photos really don’t do it justice.
This is such a special and versatile sweater to add to a vintage collection. The lovely sage green silk lining makes it extra comfortable, not itchy at all for those with sensitive skin. Sweater can be worn open or closed. Closure is a hidden row hook and eyes from center front (at neck) to hemline.
Pit to pit 18” (36” around max to close sweater comfortably)
Armscye 8” flat (16” around)
Sleeve Length 21.5”
Color is most accurate in first photo. No label other than a small size tag at back of neck marked 38.
Excellent condition ! No stains or tears on lining. No snags on knit. A small loop of beads along closure placket is a little loose (visible in photos) and another one at hem (see last photo) but the beads are secure and not falling off.
Can be easily tacked down with a few stitches — or worn as it is, not very noticeable.
